That's an interesting question, I have never thought to test this, I'll take a look.

Did this have large file support? I don't have a sensible source to test with at the moment.

Varthall, stackcookies can be overridden as a rule. AFAIK only if the program would readjust its stack while running this wouldn't be the case, but unix-like software don't actually do this since the kernel/OS handles it. IOW no need to set a super high stackcookie for a release.

@MickJT
Before deciding a stack value I'd like to do some research first. I use a stack value of 10M which has always been enough on my system, but I'd like to find out if this setting isn't way too big or if it's barely enough, and if stack usage of MEncoder differs across CPUs (G4, G3, 440. 460). Moreover, in the case the stack cookie value becomes too small on a new architecture (e.g. the new X1000's CPU), can this value be overridden by the stack command given in the shell before running the program?

@Larry
AFAIK for MEncoder there's only SimpleSub, which is a GUI for managing subtitles in videos.

Exist a GUI for Mencoder on Amiga?

Thematic, ffmpeg 0.6 has libxvid (-vcodec libxvid). Just use the ffmpeg GUI if you don't know the command line options.

No stack cookie? Shouldn't have to tell people to run it with a big stack.

Thanks for this, xvid is interesting. AFAIK ffmpeg (here) doesn't have it.

@SKOLMAN_MWS
Thanks for the link, I'll add the link to the readme. Have you tried them on
this version?

@TSK
Afxgroup, the author of the previous mencoder version, is willing to make a new
verson of both MPlayer and FFMpeg as soon as he has time. Is the latest FFMpeg
port too slow?

@Varthall / PFP can you make a new (and faster) port of ffmpeg too ?

Nice, now I don't have to use standalone lame to do a video with mp3. When I
need it I mean, didn't try yet.

Could this be compiled with libmp3lame support? Or can I use ogg vorbis with
this version somehow?
