This is a collection of some (more or less) simple games for the AmiCygnix Unix environment. Most games are board- or cardgames. Each game can be in- stalled separately! New in version 1.6 ------------------ * New game "Pioneers", a clone of "Settlers of Catan". * New versions: - Ace 1.4 instead of version 1.2. The card game "Spider" has been added and the card game "Solitaire" offers new possibilities. The GUI tool for starting the individual games has been revised and optimized for standalone start. - XEmeraldia 0.4.3 instead of version 0.4.1. The graphics have been optimized. - XGalaga 2.1.1.0 instead of version 2.0.34. The playing field is now bigger and a variation called "Hyperspace" is now included. - The xMahjongg GUI tool has been revised and optimized for standalone start. * All programs have been recompiled. Programs that require GTK+ 2 now use GTK+ 2.24.32. * All programs can now be started "Standalone". * The icon set has been updated. Thanks to Thomas Blatt! Included games -------------- * The Ace of Penguins A collection of one-player games for X. Every game has an compiled in online help (except canfield). Type 'h' to view it. With 'r' you can restart the game. Type 'q' to quit the game. - canfield - a cardgame - freecell - a cardgame - golf - a cardgame - mastermind - the well known code-breaking game - merlin - a logic game similar to "lights out" - minesweeper - the well known logic game - pegged - a board game - solitaire - a card game - spider - a card game - taipei - a mahjongg like game - taipedit - an editor for taipei - thornq - a cardgame For your convenience I wrote the launcher "Ace GUI", from where you can start every game easily. Homepage: http://www.bomberclone.de * GLightOff - a simple (but not so easy to solve!) puzzle game. The goal is turning off all the lights on the board. GLightOff uses the GTK2 toolkit. Homepage: http://glightoff.sourceforge.net * gSoko - a GTK+ clone of the famous Sokoban game. The goal of the game is to push all the boxes on the squares with a red pattern. Homepage: No longer available * GtkAtlantic - a game like "Monopoly" (tm). GtkAtlantic is a network game. There is a server for local games, but a public server can also be used. For a local game, the server must first be started and then a client for each player. Local game: - Start the GtkAtlantik-Server via the panel menu or via the "Start_GtkAtlantic-Server_Standalone.bat" script, which is located in the "Cygnix:Software/GtkAtlantic-0.4.2" directory. - Then start a client and click "Enter". Start the client either via the panel menu or via the "Start_GtkAtlantic_Standalone.bat" script. - Then click on "Get games", select the local server in the list above and then click on "CREATE/JOIN GAME". Public game: - Start a client and click "Enter". - Click on "Refresh games", select a server in the list and then click on "CREATE/JOIN GAME". Repeat the above steps for each new player Homepage: http://gtkatlantic.gradator.net * Pioneers - a clone of the board game "Settlers of Catan". Pioneers is a network game. There is a server for local games, but a public server can also be used. For a local game, the server must first be started and then a client for each player. Local game: - Start the Pioneers server via the panel menu OR via the script "Start_Pioneers-Server_Standalone.bat", which is located in the directory "Cygnix:Software/Pioneers-14.1". - Then make the desired settings and start the server by clicking on "Start Server". - If the server was started "Standalone", it is recommended to start the client for a player via the script Start_Pioneers_Standalone.bat ". When starting from the desktop, click on "Launch Pioneers Client" in the server window. - More players can be added like this or you can start a computer player with "Add Computer Player". The local server can be registered publicly! Public game: - Start a client via the panel menu OR via the "Start_Pioneers_Standalone.bat" script, which is located in the "Cygnix:Software/Pioneers-14.1" directory. - Enter your name in the window that opens and then click on "Join Public Game". The server "pioneers.debian.net" does not seem to be online anymore, therefore select "pioneers.game-host.org". - Then select the game you want from the list and click "OK". Homepage: http://sed.free.fr/xlightoff * XMahjongg - a solitaire game. The object is to remove all 144 Mah Jongg tiles from the playing area by matching them two at a time. For your convenience I wrote the launcher "xmahjongg-gui", where you can select the tile design, the board style, the background gfx and finally launch the game. Homepage: https://github.com/highfestiva/xtris Installation ------------ The X11 environment AmiCygnix version 1.6 (or higher) must be installed before! AmiCygnix is available on OS4-depot (http://os4depot.net). To install the package, just click on the "Install"-icon. The data will be installed into the AmiCygnix package. Afterwards you can find the programs in "Cygnix:Software".
