Since the last update, it seems the docky gfx get corrupted if the docky is changed.

@ jabirulo

time flies when you're having fun! Yes I've been using Lyle's tool ever since it came out as mixer back then didn't support the X1000 on board audio chip

X1000 audio was supported since V1.40, but thx anyway :-)
IIRC Lyle created a special audio control tool for X1000 audio device.

The new Mixer is a nice update, and useful on SAM460ex if using the onboard audio. But because I have an ESI@Juli XTe audio card, the Mixer is useless. Otherwise a nice update as always. The small icons are useful if you have what we call a "Tray Dock", where you have small mini-apps for some certain, important functions. Keep up the good work.

The new Mixer docky image in the Mixer 1.41 archive is too small and won't scale like all the other AmiDock images when you change the image scaling in the AmiDock prefs. The default image should be the same size as standard OS4 icons.

BTW AutoInstall script only works from within AmiUpdate AND if you have run/executed previously MIXER (APPDIR: or in SYS:Utilities/Commodities).
If used from Shell/CLI it may work or not (IIRC won't parse correctly the CopyStore part).

@Hypex:
Did you have a previous version of MIXER?
Maybe you have an old/non_existant "$MixerPath" path in APPDIR:
Does ti happen always you try to (Auto)Install it?

Have you also deleted all traces from ENVARC:AppPaths?

And most important of all, have you rebooted before trying to install?

Hi. I found a proper Mixer install was missing from my Workbench and only a tmpMixer was there. So I deleted all trace including the APPDIR entry and tried to install afresh. I got this error:

If after installation/update you still have "..About windows report version 1.38.." is that V1.38 was still running (hidded/iconified). Solution: Quit "old" (hidded/iconified) mixer and restart new one.

Try to search for Mixer executables, maybe you have it duplicated on your system.

If you get "Mixer installed in: 'SYS:Utilities/Commodities/Mixer'. Change programs to use new path." means instalaltion/update went ok, and NEW mixer is now in such new path/drawer.
If other tools/programs points to "old" path you should change them to reflect the NEW path (or change them to use 'APPDIR:mixer').

I think kas1e have this set in AmiDock prefs.:
1)Go to AmiDock preferences
2)Choose your screentitleBAR you created to put such dockies.
2)Go to LAYOUT page.
3)Change 'Icon minimum size' & 'Icon maximum size' to your screen titlebar height (ex. 18).
and you will see Mixer icon reduced to that size.

@jabirulo :)

Thanks for the information :) Well, i'm not entirely sure about the way MINIDOCK is used, but if you look at NetDock, GFX and RAMDocks and check the Tooltypes for them, then you might see :)

But i will take a closer look at the AmiDock Prefs with this Icon thing. Should be interesting :) I use AmiTheme BlueGraphx Theme, something like that :) I'll try when i get home :)

@HKvalhe
Take a look at AmiDock prefs. there are 2 gadgets in LAYOUT page:
'Icon minimum size' & 'Icon maximum size' set them booth to your screen titlebar height (ex. 18) and yoo will see Mixer icon reduced to that size.
BTW when you mean as MINIDOCK you want that the docky shows the volume % value instead of the icon?

Comment by: HKvalhe (77.40.194.23)At: 20 Nov 2013, 09:26File version: 1.38r3
@jabirulo :) Well, the tooltype for MINIDOCK is MINIDOCK=ON, which can be created, but i will keep your advice in mind about the DOCKY_ICON command. The best is to add the MINIDOCK=ON function in tooltype and some commands linked to this function.

Thank you so much for the update, and the clarification :) Can i suggest for you to make a MINIDOCK version of the Mixer.docky? If you need help for that one, Guillaume can help you. The MINIDOCK version would be ideal to put on a customized AmiDock that is put on the Workbench Title Bar :)

Thank you so much for the new Mixer! It's fantastic! Just one thing :) I notice that there is 2 Docky drawers with the same name. The main Docky drawer, and another Docky drawer inside it where the docky files are. Instead of making a double Docky drawer, just reduce to the MAIN Docky drawer in the Mixer drawer, and keep the docky files in that one Docky drawer. No need to have 2 Docky drawers to keep the docky files. One is enough :)

Unfortunately, i am using the ESI@Juli XTe audio card, but for the onboard SM502, this Mixer comes in handy, until there is another Mixer that can be used with ESI@Juli for instance :) You have done an excellent job, Jabirulo :) Keep it up! :) Thanks again :)

Glad to hear Mixer will be in its' own drawer to be placed where we want, for the next update, Jabirulo :) It would be logical to have Mixer in SYS:Utillities when Mixer is placed in its' own drawer with its' contents, because it seems now that this new Mixer works as a standalone tool, being more than a simple commodity. The new Mixer is great :)

AmiUpdate's Autoinstall should point to these things. Main Mixer into the Commodities, and the contents of the Mixer in its' own drawer into SYS:Utillities
[/quote]

No, it should'nt.

The whole idea of AmiUpdate is to use the AppDir: feature of AmigaOS4 which looks for programs that needs updating *in it's installed directory*.

There is no such thing as "Sys:Utilities/Mixer"...if you rip apart parts of a program dir you are in for lots of trouble when the next update arrives, so don't come running and blame the author afterwards.

If a user decides to put a program (completely, whit all parts in it's dir as meant by the author) somewhere else, he/she is free to do so (AmiUpdate is smart enough to figure out the programs path by itself). Of course, only if the dir and all parts of the program are intact.

Mixer is a third party product and *i* don't want to be forced to have thrid party programs in places *i* have no control over.

AmiUpdate's Autoinstall should point to these things. Main Mixer into the Commodities, and the contents of the Mixer in its' own drawer into SYS:Utillities

The images subdir from Mixer has been renamed to skins in the process of updating it and making it more consistent.

Excellent update for the Mixer, and AmiUpdate brought it all up. My i suggest a change to the AutoInstall script for AmiUpdate?

For instance, most would like to have the contents of the Mixer in its' own Mixer drawer, so as an example: Have AmiUpdate update all the contents of the Mixer in something like this: SYS:Utillities/Mixer (Contributions, Catalogs, ARexx drawer, Images, Skin and the 3 documents like Arexx.doc, History.doc and Mixer.doc, should be in the Mixer drawer)

The main Mixer could however be autoinstalled by AmiUpdate right into SYS:Utillities/Commodities. Also make sure that the main Mixer has the path for Images/Skin located to SYS:Utillities/Mixer, where all of the Mixer's contents are in that drawer. Just a suggestion.

Keep up the excellent work! Glad to know it has gone open source now :)

IIRC Mixer is a 3rd party contribution.
When it's updated it can be downloaded from amigaopen or os4depot, and when proper AmiUpdate support (Autoinstall) is finished, it will be submited/changed in AmiUpdate databse.

If it's part of OS4 then it should be getting beta tested by the OS4 beta testers

Why ?
Since first versions Mixer was always uploaded on OS4Depot, and it was always uploaded here also when it become part of the OS, regarding betatesting well ... it wasn't really tested as we found (and Jabirulo fix) atleast 10 bugs in a week and we are talking about a 10 years old tool, so believe me is better as is ..

AmiUpdate is now the official method for releasing OS4 updates.

If it's part of OS4 then it should be getting beta tested by the OS4 beta testers and updated in AmiUpdate. AmiUpdate is now the official method for releasing OS4 updates.

Sources are free and it's been in openamiga since V1.28, don't know what version was included in OS4 commodities drawer.
Maybe you meant to be in AmiUpdate?

Since Mixer is now included in OS4 (SYS:Commodoties), why are new versions being uploaded to OS4Depot??

@jabirulo

Great, i'm here if you need an italian translation :-)
At this point may i ask you also some more (small) features request ?

Mixer seems to use a snapshot position when iconificated, that means when you iconify the program from menu the icon will be placed in a wrong position, we had the same issue in AmigaAMP Prefs and it was easy to fix, see this thread for more info:

http://www.amigans.net/modules/xforum/viewtopic.php?start=40&topic_id=5917&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&type=&mode=0

Also for the next release would be cool to add:

- An iconify gadget also on the Mixer window
- Mixex should remember its position at exit
- Mouse wheel support to move the sliders !

Mixer is in the openamiga svn. I suppose you could join that project and upload your changes there.

Seems working fine with my changes :-)

Found an error in Arexx support, this appears for me when STEPSIZE = 10 in the tooltypes, probably still occurs with the default value of 5.
If I use GETMASTER and print off the result after using DOWNMASTER I get the below results... notice how 60 suddenly becomes 59!

90, 80, 70, 59, 49, 39, 29, 19, 9, 0

The POPWINDOW tooltype should be enabled by default. No reason not to (stupid me for not doing it when I added it to the code). And yes, internal hotkey support would be nice, and it should map to the volume up/down key events by default, not F11/F12. If people are so cheap they couldn't even get a keyboard with basic play/stop/volume MM-keys, they are not worthy of a popwindow ;-)
(Yes, it's a complete tragedy that no Amiga-PC keyboards comes with even the most basic MM-keys :-( )

@Raziel and samo79

I don't have enough time for that right now, having a more pressing project that needs to be finished first, but later on I'll implement what doesn't take too long, like iconify gadget, scrollwheel support and whatnot. Also, if you can code a little, feel free to volunteer to help maintain Mixer :-)

- Automatic save position of the Mixer window
- Iconify support on GUI
- Locale support
- Mouse wheel to move the sliders

You might use the POPWINDOW tooltype to activate visual feedback for volume settnigs via AREXX.

Comment by: djrikki (80.40.220.215)At: 21 May 2012, 15:23File version: 1.31
Works great.. except it needs to be made simpler or new users. Foreinstance, its great that it has an Arexx Port and I can use AllKeys to control the master volume - but this step needs removing entirely.

Please integrate support for HotKeys directly inside the program and set a default to F11/F12 or something so at least new users can use it from the word go - should be bundled in AmigaOS 4.2 if you ask me!

Also when a hotkey is pressed there needs to be some nice transparent overlay window overlays (like in MacOS) to ***VISUALLY*** prove that the volume has indeed been changed.

@klapdeur

Please open a thread at amigans.net, there is just too much possibilities to discuss in the comments.

Put in the thread what you have in devs/ahi and in devs/audiomodes and if AHI can play the test sound.
Also see if the cycle gadget of Mixer can be used to cycle through cards available, maybe it finds more than one?

Comment by: Raziel (91.8.8.95)At: 31 Jan 2012, 09:04File version: 1.30
Do you mean an "M-Audio Revolution?"

The article says it "pairs a newer version of the Envy24 audio chip" (whatever that means, probably two of them on the card?) and later in the article that it is an Envy 24HT chip(!?).
I'd go with the HT version.
So you'd need to install the Envy 24HT driver to make it useable with AH and Mixer.

I don't think it is possible to use both chips with AHI and/or Mixer, but i have never tried it, though you can still prove me wrong. ;-)

@Alex
thanks i'l try those dockies but actually my issue is that mixer is in my wbstartup prefs and it always reverts back to the cs4281 driver and I have only Revolution 5.1 drivers installed in my system?? so I always have to change that back to my Revo5.1 after every bootup

Comment by: AlexC (76.170.1.43)At: 07 Nov 2010, 10:29File version: 1.28
@328gts I'll release 1.29 soon which will fix the crash when running it on classic/ppc without supported sound card and I'll update the images as the ones from the source code weren't the latest ones but I don't know how much smaller it can be made because the layout appears to be hard-coded. In you case if all you need is a single slider at all time it would be easier and more flexible to use a separate application (docky?) which simply sends ARexx volume changes to Mixer. In the meantime there's util/docky/mmvolume.lha :-P

DaveAE have you tested what happens if u use the tooltype SETLEVELS
in this version (having the mixer in WBStartup)?
Mixer stops being a commodity and the GUI stops functioning here.
Is this ok? I know levels are already set in CMI8738 5.6+ drivers.
But should it behave like this?
