[quote]For every image that adripper successfully opens, it attempts to lock other types of the same image.[/quote] It's not ADRipper, it's the bitmap.image doing this.

@Trixie I had a look with Snoopy and, exactly as Xenic said, there were a lot of images missing. Rather than try and work out precisely which of the images were used by ADRipper, I downloaded the latest AISS (4.22) and copied over the whole tbimages dir. In my old tbimages dir were aprox 5000 images, in the new dir, aprox 9000 images! ADRipper is starting correctly again now - thanks for the advice. Mason sure has put in some incredible work on AISS. I'm not sure how I feel about it. On the one hand it keeps the tool-bar images for various apps of a uniform style, but on the other hand, there's probably only aprox 2% of those 9000 images that are actually going to be used on my system. It takes an age to backup the OS4.1 partition because of the tbimages dir. I keep saying to myself that it would be possible to delete all the unused images but it would be such a faff. Anyway, thanks Daniel :-)

@Trixie The problem I reported isn't as bad as I first thought. The adripper freeze only occurs if there is no FORCEDEVICE tooltype set. I just D/L adripper, installed it and tested without setting any tooltypes. If I set the FORCEDEVICE tooltype before starting adripper, it seems to start normally. There are CD device issues with the X5000. The X5000 CD system is a bit of a mess. There is no CD0: on the X5000. The CD system starts with CD1: and every time you switch to a different CD the device is incremented. In other words the first CD you insert is CD0:, the next CD you insert is CD1: and so on. It acts like a USB device (USB0,USB1,etc.) instead of a normal CDROM with CD0: all the time. The only way to rip CD's on my X5000 is to quit adripper after each rip, change the FORCEDEVICE tooltype and restart adripper for the next CD. I don't know if the X5000 CD system will be changed in an update but for now it would be handy to have a way to change the CD number in the adripper GUI, instead of quitting and restarting every time you change CDs.

@trixie Here on my X5000 OS4.1FEu1 system, adripper doesn't work after opening it's GUI. None of the buttons do anything and I can't quit the program. The adripper menus don't work and the menus for other programs on my Workbench stop working. My only option is a warm reboot. As far as having Lemon run Snoopy check which image is failing, I tried running Snoopy and it would be next to impossible to tell which image is causing the problem. There are hundreds of image failures. For every image that adripper successfully opens, it attempts to lock other types of the same image. Here is an example: 01473 : ADRipper : o.k. = FOpen("TBImages:db",OLD,0) [0x1A0FC744] [34uS] 01474 : ADRipper : UnLock("TBImages:db") [2uS] 01475 : ADRipper : FAIL = [exec] OpenResource("PicassoIV.resource") [3uS] 01476 : ADRipper : o.k. = [exec] OpenLibrary("datatypes.library",0) [5uS] 01477 : ADRipper : FAIL = Lock("TBImages:db.mask",SHARED) [34uS] 01478 : ADRipper : FAIL = [exec] OpenResource("PicassoIV.resource") [1uS] 01479 : ADRipper : o.k. = [exec] OpenLibrary("datatypes.library",0) [2uS] 01480 : ADRipper : FAIL = Lock("TBImages:db.outl",SHARED) [23uS] 01481 : ADRipper : o.k. = [exec] OpenLibrary("datatypes.library",0) [2uS] 01482 : ADRipper : FAIL = Lock("TBImages:db.shin",SHARED) [20uS] 01483 : ADRipper : o.k. = [exec] OpenLibrary("datatypes.library",0) [2uS] 01484 : ADRipper : FAIL = Lock("TBImages:db.shad",SHARED) [20uS] 01485 : ADRipper : o.k. = [exec] OpenLibrary("datatypes.library",0) [1uS] 01486 : ADRipper : FAIL = Lock("TBImages:db.amap",SHARED) [20uS] 01487 : ADRipper : o.k. = [exec] OpenLibrary("datatypes.library",0) [1uS] 01488 : ADRipper : FAIL = Lock("TBImages:db.omap",SHARED) [22uS]

@Lemen ADRipper only uses one image that is not part of AISS, and it's the "adripper_about.png" image distributed in the Images/ drawer. All other images are taken from AISS. Could you please use Snoopy to find out which image is missing?

@vox a) .m3u generation support has been available for ages. You just need to select "Generate playlist" in the Prefs. b) Datatypes are too slow to use for sound data conversion, compared to ADRipper's dedicated encoders. There's no way a FLAC datatype could match the FLAC encoder plugin currently available. c) What do you actually mean by "future OGG support"? The Ogg Vorbis encoder plugin uses the latest OGG libraries available d) Too much work and too few users to justify the implementation.

If I am not too demanding for a freeware, could we have (priority): a) option to generate m3u list b) alternative option to convert files using sound datatypes (FLAC, AMR) c) future OGG support (there are Amiga libs) d) Use of some database based on user input not only automatic CDDB recognition Hope a) can be introduced fast, as it is a must :-)

Thanks for the new ADRipper, good to see it being updated! Is it possible to add an 'auto rip' feature? ADRipper would automatically recognise an audio CD is in the drive and start ripping to a preset location and then 'eject when done'.

Excellent program, although I have found a little bug... If you start ADRipper without a disc in the drive it pops up the annoying requester telling you that, but if you then click the eject button to open the cd tray to put a disc in, it just tells you there's no disc again and doesn't open the tray.

One more suggestion. I'd like to have another format for how the filenames are saved. I usually have nr - songname (01 - Enter Sandman). That file would be in the directory Metallica wich would be in the directory Metallica (artist/album/songs). So pretty much how it's now but with other filenames. Maybe configurable?

A couple of suggestions for the future version. Scrollwheel support and tooltips for the icons. Except for support of MP3 I can't think of anything else right now..... if support for Lame is added the option --noreplay-gain must be added (and some other common options) but that would make the program even better :-) .
